Byron Katie brings her work to Liverpool in an exclusive presentation for Inexcess TV.

With a room full of drug workers, therapists and service users Byron Katie delivers “the Work” and challenges some of the preconceptions of how people work and relate to each other.

This first session deals with how the relationships between drug workers works (or doesn’t) and how an “open minded” approach will uncover some surprising outcomes. With the help of Jacquie Johnston Lynch from Sharp and “the four questions”, Byron Katie explores the nature of those relationships and what is true about the way we relate to each other.

Described by Time Magazine as “A spiritual innovator for the new millennium,” and by the Times as having “laser like tough love” that “burns away all illusion,” Byron Katie’s presentation is fascinating for all people who are finding the work place challenging and who are unsure about the changing landscape in the treatment/recovery world.

Part 2 will follow next week, and stay tuned for Byron Katie’s exclusive, in depth, one to one interview with George.

You can find out more about Byron Katie here www.thework.com

All the presentations from the morning session can be seen in full here.

If you weren’t there (or even if you were there) this is the film that really gives you a sense of what happened at the Road to Recovery event. Behind the scenes and with comment and feedback from the delegates.

We briefly see the rehearsal day and what the expectations of the event were with comments from the production team and from Nick Mercer the MC for the day.
There’s a real buzz about the venue as people arrive and we see some of the action on stage coupled with immediate reaction from the delegates about the morning’s presentations and the much anticipated appearance of Byron Katie.

A sense of what many of the delegates thought was probably summed up by Damien Prescott from the Wirral Drug Service who came out of the afternoon session saying, “I’m the one that needs to change. It’s not them – it’s me.”

Whether individuals need to change or not it seems that change is definitely on the way. So see what the Road to Recovery event made of it all.
